Ashokan Civil War Days – Tentative Schedule

Friday, May 21
Encampment set-up beginning at 3 p.m. for reenactors. Please check-in at registration tent.

Saturday, May 22
Encampment opens to the public at 10 a.m. Camp closes at 5 p.m. for daily ticket visitors. Dinner for reenactors 5:30-7 p.m.
Soldier in-camp demonstrations, living history portrayals, artillery and cavalry demonstrations,  Pewter Shop Naval Traditions program and exhibition, wet-plate photography, historical art displays, Hudson River Landscape painters, civilian portrayals, mid-19th century children’s games, Civil War Roundtable programs, meet and greet President Lincoln, tinsmithing, broom making, blacksmithing  throughout the day. Period music by the Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, 77th NY Regimental Balladeers, Rural Felicity Fife & Drums and Iron Jacks (Nautical Music) and 1860s “Cake Walk” with prizes. In the afternoon, skirmish, recreation of the “Surrender Meeting” between Generals Lee and Grant at McLean House, Appomattox Courthouse April 9, 1865. 7 p.m. evening dance at the pavilion with Jay & Molly (tickets $10). Candlelight tour of the encampment  from 8-10p.m.

Sunday, May 23
Encampment opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 2:30 p.m. Remembrance service in the morning at the Pewter Shop.
